Introduction:
From the moment the doors open, the patrons are greeted into a new world with a Cotton Club style decor. Our DJ pulls them into a retro-futuristic dimension spinning music ranging from electro-swing to funk classics to hip hop of the golden age. The DJ awaits to be joined by various specialty acts during his set.
Act 1 - Emcee’s Greetings
As the crowd begins to settle into their seats, our Emcee/rapper steps on stage to greet the crowd with spoken word describing to the patrons what they are about to experience while the DJ provides a soulful jazzy soundtrack. He’s accompanied by a solo trumpet player. This sets the tone to the evening.
Act 2 - Tap Dancers/ Lindy Hop
As an homage to the cotton club days, this jazz dance performance teleports you back to the Harlem renaissance era featuring a tap dancing duo/ lindy hoppers. The performers than pull members of the audience on to the dance floor for an interactive jubilee.
Act 3 - Male Dancers
The male dancers in the cast take their turn to perform a jaw-dropping, body-twisting, high-energy contemporary urban choreography and free style accompanied by DJ tracks ranging from Bruno Mars ‘Uptown Funk to Post Malone’s ‘Wow’. The crowd is mesmerized.
Act 4 - Sexy Burlesque
Now featuring the female performers, they bring a sexy energy to our classy environment with cirque influenced acts ranging from burlesque dancers, aerialists, fire dancing, and pole performances.
Act 5 - EXTRA! EXTRA!
A street paper boy/ b-boy announces the upcoming arrival of the Main Show with Parlor. Along with the Emcee, the two have a conversation between lyrics and movement accompanied by the DJ and a New Orleans 2nd line brass section. The energy draws in the crowd, the atmosphere begins to liven up. The stage begins to fill with each musician as they get ready to start. The anticipation intensifies as the room goes dark.
Main show
The band begins with their original song ‘Go ‘Head D’ incorporating the famous intro of Cab Calloway’s biggest hit ‘Minnie the Moocher (hi-dee-ho) while the star of the show, Dessy, makes her much anticipated inaugural entrance through the crowd accompanied by her 4 female dancers. As the horns end the Cab’ theme, the music suddenly turns into a modern back-beat thumping groove provided by the drums. Now ‘The Jamboree’ has begun!
Dessy continues the set performing fan favorites of Parlor Social’s high energy original songs such as ‘Let Me Hear You Say Hep Hep’, ‘Jump N Jivin’ and a few prohibition-funk rendition covers. A variety of dancers set a new tone for each number. The specialty performers return to contribute to the main show with lindy hoppers on aerial bungee, b-boys and tap dancers’ athletic choreography, showcasing their high flying tricks and thrilling moves.
After bringing the energy to a peak to finish the main show with the full cast, a transition of the evening happens. Three janitors with large brooms begin cleaning up the mess from a wild night. The cleaning turns into a choreographed number with two of them dancing and the other picking up a bucket and starts drumming to the DJ’s music. This transitions morphs into a turn down smooth lounge set.
‘After show’ Lounge set
The night is brought down to a sensual vibe as Dessy and the performers are dressed in sexy lingerie. The vibe transforms into an after-hours speakeasy environment. The band sets the tone with classics such as ‘I Put A Spell On You’ and ‘My Prerogative’ leaving the audience feeling sexy.
After the set ends, the DJ turns the energy back up as the dancers engage with the crowd pulling them up on the dance floor urging to dance the night away.
